Shared knowledge and perspective for the open-minded.
A particularly large painting of my winter boots on a chair.
The Demon of the Stairs
An exploration of one’s imagination when scared.
Have you ever been walking up stairs from the darkness and worried about something coming up behind you? This is a manifestation of that fear.
Based off of a collage of images, this painting is an exploration of color and expression. The flowers are monotone and barely distinguishable, while the eyes are detailed and staring right at you.
Model Study #2
A quick expressive painting of a female nude model surrounded with muted patterns cloths, and shadows.
Another process painting, this too has a questionable narrative. What I saw when completing it was a giant laying on a hill, among a civilization of much smaller people, but others have told me different interpretation.
A painting to explore how intense color changes our perception. This was originally just a photo of a stream that flows by my house. When the saturation is doubled, then quadrupled, and so on, it becomes nearly unrecognizable.
A process painting that was developed from random lines and colors. It eventually turned into this woman bursting through the leaves in a jungle. Her narrative is up for discussion; her clothes suggests she is lost here but her expression suggests she is completely confident here.
Model Study #3
A painting of a nude model with stark and dramatic lighting.
It was meant to give off the energy he put off, which I found suspicious and slightly intimidating.
A somewhat quick sketch of a nude model posing against a stool.
Warm/Cold Nude Study
A quick, small painting study that emphasizes shadow with cool tones and highlights with warm tones.
